Welcome! Awesome to have you.

The Constantia toad volunteers are a passionate group of toad savers working towards the conservation and protection of their fellow resident, the Western Leopard Toad.

The Western leopard Toad is an endangered amphibian threatened with extinction. Populations occur mainly in Cape Town, all living in urban suburbs coming into constant contact with humans.
Almost entirely depend on the actions of urban landowners for their survival, a strong volunteer presence is needed to monitor and save toads during their two big migrations in August & December.

This site allows you to network with other volunteers in Constantia & keep updated on all toad related activities.
Thanks for joining & enjoy.

2009 Breeding Season Results

The 2009 Western leopard Toad breeding season finished on a high note, with a total sum of 1125 live toads being moved off roads and 195 roadkills being recorded.
These figure show a similar ratio in live/dead toads, however an increase in volunteers lea to many more toads being observed as in 2008.

A total of 115 volunteers participated in various breeding sites areas across Cape Town, covering more terrain and identifying new breeding sites.

A total of 27 new breeding sites were identified this year increasing the number of known breeding sites into the sixties.

Thank you to all who participated and gave of their time to assist!
Toadlet emergence is on its way so get prepared for the second big saving event of the species.
